Did Todd rape Marty again?
Did “One Life to Live”’s Todd rape Marty for the second time when they had sex last week, while Todd lied to her about having raped her years ago? Some discussion boards are saying that since she didn’t know all the secrets that Todd was keeping from her, that when they mutually agreed to have sex, that this was rape. I think that it was a violation both emotionally and physically, but I personally wouldn’t call it rape. Unfortunately men and women hide secrets and tell lies to their lovers all the time. They have affairs and continue to have sex with their husbands or wives. And if these husbands and wives knew of the affairs they would not be engaging in sexual intercourse with their lying partners. It’s a deception. A horrible violation, but I don’t think its rape. Don’t get me wrong I think Todd is a scumbag for lying to Marty and having sex with her when she was not aware of all the particulars to clearly decide that was what she wanted, but people lie all the time. It’s a really hard thing to try to define, what is and is not rape. There are definitely shades of gray, and I’m sure many people could make a great argument that what Todd did was rape.
